Bearing more than a striking resemblance to the Windows-only $99 QuickCam Pro 9000, the Vision Pro includes the same 2MP image sensor capable of capturing 720p HD video or 30FPS VGA video, in addition to 1600x1200 stills. The QuickCam Vision Pro, which sells for $129, has a nice design, though it is not as complementary as Apple's own iSight. Though there are several web cam options available, Logitech has announced the QuickCam Vision Pro specifically for Macs. Since Apple has yet to build an iSight into its Cinema Display LCD monitors, Mac Pro and Mac mini users are left to fend for themselves if they want to use iChat's video features or use Photo Booth to snap a quick self portrait. As Apple added built-in iSight cameras to MacBooks and iMacs, the standalone iSight was quietly discontinued at the end of 2006.
